Where do we get uniforms?
Uniforms are sold either online at http://www.millswear.com/ or at their Atlanta location at 4920 Roswell Road, Suite 1, in the Fountain Oakes Shopping Center. Their phone number is 404.255.2133 and no appointment is necessary.
How do we find out what books are needed and where do we buy them?
Textbooks for grades PK-6 are provided by Woodward Academy and students will receive them in the classroom. Once the Middle and Upper School students receive their schedules, they may purchase their books online via MBS Direct.
Where do I drop off and pick up my child?
There are carpool lanes in front of each school. The Upper School students can be dropped off at the front gate.
What and when is registration day(s)?
Registration for the Primary School, Lower School, and Woodward North is the Friday before classes start. At this time, the students will meet their teachers, find their classrooms, and sign up for various activities. There is no registration for the Middle and Upper School students; however, there is an orientation for 7th graders, and new students in 8th and 9th grade and other new Upper School students.
How do I find out about summer reading assignments?
Summer reading lists can be found on the Summer Reading page located in the student section of the Woodward website.
What is the best way for me to get in touch with my child's teacher?
The school phone number and email address for each teacher is available online via the student directory which can be found on Edline. During the Parent Orientation at the individual schools, the teachers will also give out contact information.
How do new families gain access to Edline, the Academy's academic portal?
New parents will receive their Edline activation code in their opening school mailing in the summer. New students who are in grade levels which use student accounts will get their activation code during student orientation or after school starts.
My child has to take medication during the day. How does that work?
The medication and instructions should be given to the school nurse. She will then dispense it as directed.
Can my child change campuses?
There are certain circumstances under which the Admissions Committee may approve a campus change: first, the family has moved and the Admissions Committee feels the current campus is no longer geographically desirable. Second, if there is a program offered at another campus that the student needs but is not available on the current campus. Third, if a sibling has entered the Middle or Upper School so that having children on different campuses is difficult. A letter requesting a change of campus must accompany the re-enrollment form in February. Late requests will not be considered.
What is tutorial?
The teachers in grades 3-12 are available every afternoon, Monday through Thursday, from 3:10-3:40 PM. Students may drop by for additional help, questions, discussions, etc.
Does my child need lunch money?
No, lunch is included in the tuition. There is a Student Lounge for the Middle and Upper School students where snacks can be purchased.
What happens if my child gets sick and we are not able to pick him/her up right away?
There is an infirmary available in each school that is attended at all times by a nurse.
Where do I get a copy of the student handbook?
The handbook is online for each individual school.
Where do I send "change of address information"?
Any changes in home or work addresses, phone numbers or e-mail addresses can be submitted online. Once the change has been made, the individual school and appropriate departments will be notified. Please note that Edline and the Academy's email systems do not coordinate with each other so you must update them separately.
Where do I get a required supply list for my child's class?
Primary School and Woodward North students will receive their supply packets in the classroom. The students in the Lower School will be mailed a supply list in early June and will be made available online.
Does Woodward Academy have a required study hall?
No, although some students do schedule a study hall, particularly if they are heavily involved in after school activities.
How will my child be placed in courses?
In Middle and Upper School, the student will meet with the Associate Headmaster/Principal, who will review the transcripts in order to help schedule the appropriate classes.
