About the Lower School

The Woodward Academy Lower School offers students a happy, stimulating environment for learning. The whole child is developed through academics, the arts, and athletics. Dedicated teachers foster the development of the whole child and celebrate the progress of each student.

At the Lower School a culturally diverse student body thrives in this environment. The learning environment includes state of the art media and technology. Lower School students are taught the importance of giving back to their community through participation in several meaningful community service projects throughout the school year.

Summer Reading and Math Assignments,
to be completed by all students:

Supplies:

• 4th Grade supplies will be pre-packaged and parents will be billed after school starts.
• 5th Grade Supply List
• 6th Grade Supply List
• Transition Supplies:  All textbooks and supplies for grades 4 - 6 are covered in the Transition tuition.  The classroom teacher will issue the books and materials as needed. Locks for the book lockers will be available in the homerooms.

Orientation & Registration:

New students will have orientation on Friday, August 2, until 1:00 PM in the Thomas Hall Gym. They should wear play clothes. 6th grade students: report to the Gym by 8:15 AM. 4th and 5th grade students: report to the Gym by 10:00 AM. Parents report to the chorus room at 11:00 AM for a meeting.

Mandatory registration and orientation for all parents and students will be held at 8:30 AM on Friday, August 9, in the Thomas Hall Gym. 4th and 5th grades: report to assigned homerooms. 6th grade: report to Thomas Hall Gym.

Note: Students should be in uniform with neat haircuts for registration.
