Our goal at the Primary School library is to help patrons locate and obtain material, both printed and digital, for pleasure reading, for personal interest, or for research projects. The library offers a print collection of over 7,000 books and a "virtual library" with ebooks, audio books, encyclopedias, and databases accessible to all members of the Woodward community.

Library News

  • Summer Reading Book Sale Back By Popular Demand

On May 11th, Spring Fling Day, we will have our annual Summer Reading Sale featuring required summer reading for rising 4th graders and other recommended summer reading titles for rising 1st - 3rd grades. To find out more click here -- 4th Grade Required Reading list. A flyer with this information is coming home in the book bags. Thank you for your support!

  • Weekly Library Classes

Library classes end the week of May 7th. Students are encouraged to return any outstanding library books and check-out only what they need. No check-outs after the week of the 14th.

Students attend regular library classes and are welcome to visit the library as many times as they wish during the week to exchange library books. Students may take two books out at a time. We hope students will enjoy their library books and return them, on or before, their assigned library day. Please encourage and support our library program at home by taking an interest in your child's book selections. PLEASE NOTE: K-2nd graders should return library books inside the provided library bag! For more information about the PS library, please visit our webpage at http://www.woodward.edu/academics/ps/library/index.aspx.

  • Accelerated Reader

At the Primary School, students in grades 1-3 participate in the Accelerated Reader program. Each student has an individual goal. The final goal date of the year is Friday, May 18th. 3rd graders will wear and take home all earned tags the last week of school. Please encourage your child to work in earnest toward making the goal! Students with healthy daily reading habits should easily accomplish the goal when reading within their book level range.

AR Bookfind (http://www.arbookfind.com/) is a great resource! Search for books of interest to your child to see a brief description of the book and the book level. Search for books in the 'advanced' setting to pinpoint areas of interest. You can help your child expedite the quizzing process at school by helping to record the quiz number to send in with the book. Most PS library books have the quiz number written on the inside cover.

  • More Library Resources Available

We are pleased to announce new subscriptions to One Click Audio and Axis 360. At One Click, accessible from the PS Library web page, students may select from hundreds of audio books. Selections may even be downloaded to portable devices! At Axis 360, students have access to dozens of ebooks. For log in information please contact Mrs. McMichael, Primary School Librarian-Media Specialist via email or ext 3520.
