Non-Standard SAT

Guidelines for Taking Non-Standard PSAT, SAT, AP Exams

1. Documentation (psycho-educational testing) of eligibility must be within the past five years. Even if a student already has a SSD number, he/she will no longer be eligible for non-standard testing if the documentation is more than five years old.
2. Accommodations that are requested on the PSAT, SAT and AP exams must have been provided and used on school tests for four months (excluding vacation time) prior to the date of requesting eligibility for a non-standard College Board Test (SSD number).

Procedure for registering non-standard PSAT, SAT, ACT and AP Exams

1. Follow the instructions for receiving accommodations at Woodward Academy under "Accommodations". 
2. Once you have had accommodations at Woodward for four months, you may contact Gigi Moore in the Transition for the application paperwork for the College Board.
3. Return the completed forms to the Transition office for processing.
4. The College Board can take between one (1) and seven (7) weeks to make a determination.
5. To register for SAT go to http://www.collegeboard.com/ and follow the instructions for "Non-standard testing".  

Non-Standard SAT Information At Woodward Academy

Non-Standard SAT is held on the same weekend as the standard SAT.  For students with 100% extended time, the test is over two days.  50% extended time is completed in one day.  A computer will be provided to students who have “use of computer” as an accommodation.

100% Extended Time

Day one: Saturday (8 am – 12 pm)   Sections 1 – 4
Each section is 50 minutes long.  The student may not go over this time.  If he finishes before time is up, he must wait until all time has expired before moving to the next section.

Day two: Sunday  Sections 5 – 9
Various times – same as above

50% Extended Time

Test is completed in one day.  The section times are listed below.  The student may not go over this time.  If he finishes before time is up, he must wait until all time has past before moving to the next section.

SCORES: Scores on the multiple-choice questions on this test are based on the number of questions answered correctly minus a fraction of the number answered incorrectly.  Random guessing is unlikely to change your scores significantly.  If you can eliminate one or more of the answer choices as definitely wrong, it will generally be to your advantage to guess from the remaining choices.   Students may write in their booklet, but only scores on the answer sheet count.

FREE test prep courses

The State of Georgia (your tax dollars) is paying for students to take an online College Board course. (Remember the College Board are the folks who write the SAT tests.) To begin: Students need the access code that allows them to log on the the State of Georgia's on-line SAT Preparation Course. Woodward students need to talk with their English teacher for the handout and access code to access this.

ACT Testing

"Extended Time" and "Special Testing" applications can be downloaded at ACT.org. This form must be completed and mailed at least eight (8) weeks prior to taking the ACT exam. The non-standard test is not always given on the national test date. ACT is requiring that Psychological Evaluations be current within 3 (three) years.
