Application Process

The Woodward Academy application process is “self managed” and must be completed through Ravenna. It is the responsibility of the parent(s) to track the application from beginning to end. Parents should make all appointments, ensure that all information is submitted in a timely manner and make certain that all supporting documents are submitted for inclusion in the applicant’s file. The application deadline for the 2015-2016 academic year is Friday, February 27, 2015 for students who wish a decision by April 3, 2015. All other applicants are welcome to apply and completed files will be reviewed on a rolling basis until each grade level is full. Decisions will be available through Ravenna once the Admissions Committee has reviewed the completed application.

Applications must be on file before interviews, testing and shadow days can be scheduled. The application fee is $75.00.

Woodward Academy Application

Testing is required for all candidates seeking admission to Woodward Academy.

Applicants for grades prekindergarten through five are tested on the campus to which they are applying. The testing is held during the months of January through March. Appointments for these test dates will be made after an application has been received and processed by the Admissions Office. The testing fee is $40.00.

Applicants for grades prekindergarten through five who are applying from out of state or country will need to have an educational psychologist in their area contact the Admissions Office and speak with the Vice President for Admissions regarding testing.

Applicants for grades six through twelve are required to take the SSAT. More information on the SSAT can be found on their website. The March SSAT testing date is the last date that will allow the results to be forwarded in time for Admissions consideration.

Applicants for the Transition Program will need to submit a current psychoeducational  evaluation which has been conducted by a licensed psychologist within the last two years. The evaluation needs to be submitted to the Admissions Office prior to the applicant's admissions and transition interviews.

Admissions interviews are required for all applicants for grades three and above on the campus to which they are applying. Once the Admissions Office receives and processes an application, the parents are then contacted to arrange an interview. Usually, our appointments are scheduled to last for about fifty minutes. While it is not mandatory, we do ask that both parents come with the child since the process is designed to include parents as well as students.

During the interview, we will try to help you understand the programs and services offered at Woodward Academy. Our objective is to facilitate your introduction to the Academy in the easiest and most informative way. We hope that you will find the process fun and interesting.

While we will provide a general overview of the school and the opportunities available, most people find it helpful to spend time prior to your visit discussing some specific questions for which you seek answers. Bring these questions with you to the visit.

Candidates applying for the Transition Program will also need to schedule an interview with the Director of the Transition Program. This interview will be scheduled when you are contacted to set up the initial interview.
