2011 Program
Drawing on the Academy’s noble military heritage, students, alumni, veterans and friends will come together on Friday, November 11, at 11:00 AM, on Woodward Academy’s Main Campus in College Park to pay tribute to those who died in service to our country and those who are serving our country today. This year’s ceremony will feature a special keynote address given by Maj. Daniel Gade.
Gade has served in numerous command and staff positions in the U.S. Army, including a tank and scout platoon leader in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson, Colo. and the company commander of Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armored Regiment in the Republic of Korea and Iraq. Gade also served as an Associate Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council.
Gade is a decorated officer with awards including the Presidential Service Badge, Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor and the Army Achievement Medal, among others.
Gade is an instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point, his alma mater. He holds a Ph.D. and an MPA from the University of Georgia.
