• Girls Cross Country at Early Bird Invitational

  The girls cross country team ran well at the Early Bird Invitational at Clinton Nature Preserve on Saturday August 28th. The team was led by Weezie Chandler (37th in 21:01), along with sophomores Hannah Fleming, Sarah Adams (PR of 22:32), Meg Nestlehutt, and Andie Keuhndorf.

• Friday's Night Game vs Osborned Moved

  On Friday, September 3rd the Woodward Academy War Eagle Football team will take on Osborne High School in their 2nd game of the 2010 season. The game has been moved to Campbell Middle School and will kickoff at 7:30 PM. Woodward Academy is 1-0 on the season after the War Eagles defeated Upson-Lee 31-10 in their season opener.

• Boys Cross Country at Early Bird Invitational

  The Varsity Boys finished 10th out of 32 teams (and 2nd among AAA schools) at the Bob Blastow Early Bird Invitational on Saturday, August 28th. Senior Nathan Vassey finished 2nd overall. Beau Bittinger (with a PR of 17:02), Lukas Rees (with a PR of 17:23), Chris Burnett, and River Holifield (with a PR of 17:57) completed the team's scoring. Sophomore Ben Barnhart finished 2nd in the JV race with a time of 17:47. See the cross country team page for more individual results.

• Woodward Athletics Off to Another Great Start

  Woodward Academy's Fall Athletic programs have kicked off their 2010 season and the War Eagles are off to yet another great start. The Varsity Softball team stands at 4-2 on the season and have won four straight games including a thrilling victory over rival Westminster 5-4 in extra innings. The Varsity Volleyball team is the defending AAA State Champion and Coach Tad Sahara's team has started 2010 looking like a contender once again. In their first week of action the Lady War Eagles have defeated rival St.Pius (2-0) and traditional powerhouse Northview (2-1). The War Eagle Football team will kick off their season on August 27th as they host Upson-Lee while the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams begin their season at the Early Bird Invitational on August 28th. Come out and support all the War Eagle Athletic Teams!

• McAllister '07 Receives Coleman Lew Award

  Blaine McAllister '07, a senior outside hitter on the The Citadel volleyball team, was named among 23 recipients of the Coleman Lew Leadership Award. The award recognizes student-athletes based on leadership, academic excellence and athletic achievement in both the college environment ad the community. You can read the entire article here.
