  • War Eagles to host Holiday Events

    Woodward Academy will host the War Eagle Basketball Classic this year on Friday, December 19th and Saturday December 20th. This year's classic will feature 22 boys and girls teams from Georgia and Alabama. Games begin on Friday at 3:30 PM and Saturday at 11:00 AM. All tickets are $5 and WA parent/student passes are not valid for this event.

    On Monday, December 22nd and Tuesday, December 23rd, Woodward Academy will host the annual War Eagle Wrestling Invitational. Preliminary matches begin on Monday at 12 PM. JV matches start at 9 AM on Tuesday with varsity final rounds starting at 12 PM. All tickets are $5 and WA parent/student passes are not valid for this event.

  • Wrestling 7th at South Metro

    The Woodward Academy wrestling team competed in the annual South Metro Invitational over the weekend at Luella HS in Henry County. Junior Grady Pastor placed 2nd overall and Brandon Johnson brought home a 3rd place finish. Overall place winners were: Tucker Witmer (5th), Josh Seeb (6th) and Alex Murfee (6th).

    Overall the War Eagles placed 7th. The team will be idle as Woodward takes semester final exams but will return to action on December 22nd & 23rd as they host the annual War Eagle Classic.

  • MS Swim Concludes Season at Marist Invitational

    The boys and girls middle school swim and dive squads concluded their 2014 season competing at the Marist Invitational this weekend. The boys team finished 3rd overall (22 teams) while the girls squad finished 4th. The relay team of Foster Barnard, Emanuel Abdul-Salaam, Jacob Willis and Mercer Roberts broke their own school record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.90. Jacob Willis broke the school record in the 500 free with a time of 5:28.37, bettering the old record of 5:33.3. Emanuel Abdul-Salaam broke his own school record in the 100 breaststroke with a new time of 1:07.57. The same relay team of Willis, Barnard, Roberts and Abdul-Salaam set a new school record in the 400 free with a time of 3:44.13.

  • Lady War Eagles Named to Softball All-Region Team

    The Woodward Academy softball team placed two players on this year's All-Region team. Senior Ashley Mulaik and junior Madison McGarrah were both named to the Region 5-AAAA All-Region squad. Ashley and Madison have now been named 1st team All-Region three consecutive seasons.

    In addition, Ashley recently committed to play softball for Birmingham Southern in 2015. Birmingham Southern plays in the Southern Athletic Association and were the 2014 conference champions in softball.

  • Clay Targets Team Finishes as GISA State Runner-Up

    Woodward Academy's Clay Target team traveled to Savannah over the weekend to compete in the Georgia Independent School Association's state championships. Woodward finished with a team score of 775, just one point behind first place Stratford (776) to finish as GISA State Runner-up.

War Eagle Athletic Facilities

The Athletic Complex on Main Campus includes three gymnasiums, Dodd, Padget and New Gyms; the  eight-lane Olympic pool in the Kennedy Natatorium; the Drucker Baseball Field; Sutherland Family Softball Field; Shailendra Tennis Complex; eight-lane Olympic size track as well as numerous practice fields including the new Willingham Fields.

The  gymnasium facility also includes locker rooms, a fitness & weight center, classrooms and offices, the Tyler H. Brown Student Center, and the Campus Store. The 5,000-seat lighted Graham Hixon Field at Colquitt Stadium includes stands for both home and away teams, a video scoreboard, an artificial turf field, and concession stands.
