Uniform Regulations

Woodward Academy’s uniform is designed to offer year-round style and comfort. With both short and long sleeved shirt options, the daily uniform is appropriate for all seasons. The fleece vest or jacket makes the uniform comfortable in Atlanta’s changeable climate.

The dress uniform, which is worn one day per week during the winter months (January through Spring Break) and on special occasions as designated by each individual school, continues the Academy’s more traditional look with navy blazer and khaki pants or skirt.

Daily Uniforms

  • Navy or White Polo Shirt, Short or Long Sleeve - Boys and Girls, Grades PK - 12
  • Black Polo Shirt, Short or Long Sleeve - Boys and Girls, Grade 12 Only
  • Khaki Pants - Boys and Girls, Grades PK - 12
  • Khaki Shorts - Boys and Girls, Grades PK - 6
  • Khaki Skort - Girls, Grades PK - 12 (PK-K has an elastic waist option)
  • Navy Sweatshirt - Boys and Girls, Grades PK -12
  • Navy Long Sleeve Sweater, Grades 7-12 Only

Dress Uniform

  • Navy Blazer - Boys and Girls, Grades 1 - 12
  • Red Letterjacket - Boys and Girls, Grades 9 - 12 Varsity Athletes Only
  • Red and Blue Striped Tie - Boys and Girls, Grades 1 - 12 (optional for girls)
  • White or Blue Oxford Shirt - Short or Long Sleeved, Boys and Girls, Grades 1 - 12
  • Khaki Skort - Girls, Grades 1 - 12
  • Khaki Pants - Boys, Grades 1 - 12

No Dress Uniform for Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten

    (Can be purchased at US Wings or similar store, but not available through MillsWear.)
  • Red Letter Jacket - Boys and Girls, Grades 9 - 12, Varsity Athletes Only

  • Hats, gloves, mittens and scarves of conservative colors are permitted on days when weather is below freezing, but they are not to be worn as accessories to the uniform.

P.E. Uniforms - Grades 1st-12th 
(new fall 2011, old ones no longer used after spring 2012)

  • Gray T-shirt - boys and girls, required for grades 1-12
  • Reversible jersey - boys and girls, required for grades 7-12
  • Black sweatshirt and sweatpants - boys and girls, optional for grades 1-12
  • Black mesh shorts - boys only, required for grades 1-12
  • Black and red short - girls only, required for grades 1-12  

Accessories

  • Belt - Brown
  • Socks - White, Boys may also wear navy blue socks
  • Tights - White or Navy blue, Girls, All Grades
  • Shoes - White Tennis, Boys and Girls, Grades PK and K

Uniforms are available through MillsWear on-line, their shop at 4920 Roswell Road or through the Woodward Academy's Parent Community Consignment Shop.

The Girls Peacoats are available at US Wings, Grades 7-12

For the Upper School: The Academy approved in October 2009 that students may wear conservative (in style and color) waterproof rain shoes as a uniform option.  Students may wear the conservative rain shoes on rainy or snowy days only.  Students are not to wear these shoes to school at any other time.
