The goal of the Mentor Program is assist families new to Woodward in becoming part of the Woodward community and making their transition to the Woodward family as easy as possible. To accomplish this, the program involves both a one-to-one match with Woodward students and parents, as well as the opportunity to attend a number of events over the summer to meet many Woodward families. We welcome every Woodward family to participate in both aspects of the Mentor Program.
In the Primary, Lower School, Middle School and Woodward North, a wonderful group of families have volunteered to participate in the program as “Mentor Families”. Each Mentor Family will be matched with a family new to Woodward and will serve as both a source of information and guidance as well as friends with whom to communicate over the summer. The goal is to match new families with current Woodward families that have a child in the same grade and of the same gender as your child. For parents with children entering Kindergarten at Primary School, you will be paired with a Mentor Parent. Your child will be invited to all the summer events for their school, so they have the opportunity to meet children in their grade.
In the Upper School the Mentor Program is more focused on matching the student new to Woodward with a “mentor student” (of the same gender and in the same grade) based on their shared interests, co-curricular activities, favorite sports, and hobbies. Existing Woodward students have volunteered to participate in the program and are excited to meet your children! In addition, New Parents will be assigned a “mentor parent” with whom they can communicate over the summer as they navigate the Upper School at Woodward.
