After School Activities
All students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 should promptly leave the campus upon dismissal unless they are involved in After School Care, have been given permission to remain by the principal of their school or are participating in athletic, artistic, detention hall or study hall activities.
After School Care
(Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth Grade):
Students enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through 6 who cannot be picked up immediately after dismissal must be enrolled in the Woodward Academy After School Care Program which operates until 6:00 P.M. on each school day. Parents wishing to use this service may secure applications on Registration Day in August. Please be aware that After School Care will not be available on the last day of school before the December holiday break and the last day of school. More about the cost.
Woodward Academy maintains that student attendance is an important part of student success; therefore, the school strongly discourages absences except in the cases of emergency or illness. A parental note should accompany the student upon the return to school after an absence. Please be aware that cumulative absences of 20 or more may result in loss of academic credit.
Detailed bus information is posted on the transportation section of the web site. Students who ride the bus in the afternoon must wait in the bus departure area until departure time. Only students scheduled for afternoon activities or involved in After School Care are allowed to remain on campus and depart by the 6:00 P.M. bus. Students are not allowed to leave campus at any time during the school day including during times they are waiting for the bus. It is possible to ride the bus intermittently, and to do so students must purchase bus passes from either the principal’s office, from the Academy Business Office located in Carlos Hall or from the Campus Store.

Students in grades pre-kindergarten through 6 will not attend school on the two conference days per year as posted on the main school calendar and school newsletters. The elementary schools will not provide After School Care on these two dates; however, supervision is available for students in each school during individual conference times.
Woodward Academy considers the safety and well being of all members of the community to be of utmost importance, and the Academy expects students to adopt an attitude of respect for all members of that community. It is the responsibility of students and parents to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations handbook provided by the individual schools (please see the list to the right or go to each schools' home page). In particular, Woodward Academy cannot and will not tolerate a student using, possessing or being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs on campus, at school functions or on school sponsored trips.
Additionally, students may not bring to school any item which in any way could be considered a weapon. Further, the Academy will not tolerate actions or statements of a threatening or harassing nature towards any member of the community. Students who engage in any such behaviors involving drugs or alcohol, weapons violations, bullying or threatening or harassing behavior or statements are subject to disciplinary action up to and including permanent dismissal from the school. Students and parents should also be aware that Woodward Academy does not operate under an Open Campus philosophy. Once students have arrived on campus, they are not allowed to depart until after their last scheduled activity.
The Georgia Department of Human Resources requires that all children meet certain immunization requirements. Please discuss these immunization requirements with your child’s physician or contact the school nurse if you have any questions. Additional information is available at http://www.aap.org/ as well as at www.woodward.edu/go/health.
Students enrolled in the State of Georgia school system, by law, must have the Immunization Form 3231 on file with their school prior to the first day of class. This form may be obtained from your child’s physician or county health department. Because of physical education, dance classes and the many sports and co-curricular activities that Woodward Academy offers, we require that all students have an annual physical evaluation. We encourage the physical to be completed between the months of May and August. For online health forms visit: www.woodward.edu/go/update.
I. D. Card
All Middle and Upper School students are required to possess and carry a school I.D. card. The Middle School I.D. cards will be available for 7th graders and new 8th graders on orientation day. The Upper School I.D. cards will be available from the Upper School Dean of Students Office beginning in August.
