When the members of the Class of 2013 began their freshman year in the Upper School, I was embarking on my own freshman year of sorts—my first full year as President of Woodward Academy. I feel a special kinship with the 247 students who received their diplomas on Saturday, May 11, because I have observed them becoming young men and women who embody the Woodward motto of excellence, character, and opportunity.
