Primary School (Pre-K to 3)
Learning starts with joy. In Primary School, with gentle encouragement, we foster the natural spark of curiosity—and help it grow.
From pre-kindergarten through third grade, our dedicated teachers offer warm encouragement and wise guidance every step of the way. With low teacher-student ratios in every class, we are able to provide each child with individual attention and a loving environment that builds a bridge of support between school and home.
Kind and nurturing teachers focus on every child's development making Woodward one of Georgia's top kindergarten schools, and that warm guidance continues throughout the Primary School years. In every classroom, teachers use a wide range of technological tools to enhance learning, including iPads, SmartBoards, and Lego Robotics. All Primary School students participate in dedicated classes for science, art, and music as well as Spanish, library, and computer classes.
Physical education is an important part of every day, in addition to daily recess, because we believe in the importance of play for young children. Students can opt to take dance twice a week in first through third grades. Third graders can participate in additional activities such as Primary Singers, Character Builders, and intramural sports including volleyball, basketball, swimming, and soccer. After school, we offer an abundance of cocurricular opportunities, including Spanish Club, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, chess, tennis, piano, martial arts, and golf.
School is every child’s first experience of the world outside of home. It’s where we learn to read and write as well as to make friends and to understand and appreciate the world outside ourselves. At the Primary School, we create a sense of family, a home away from home where Woodward’s youngest students can learn, grow, and discover.
