Woodward Academy's Girls Golf team had their eyes set on making a run at a third consecutive AAAA State Championship this past spring until the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020-21 season. While the shutdown was disappointing, several golfers have instead shown off their talents on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.
Raising senior Morgan Ellison captured 1st place at the Sea Pines Junior Classic carding rounds of 73-75 and also took home top honors a the Patton Kizzire Junior Classic shooting 76-73. In addition, Morgan recently committed to The University of Texas-San Antonio to play collegiate golf in fall 2021.
Raising junior Aly Francis has led the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour this summer in total points (Female 15-19) with 5 first place finishes. Aly captured the titles at Berkeley Hills Junior Classic (73-76), Harbor Club Junior Classic (73-77), Southern Junior at Saugahatchee (78-72) and the rain-shortened Grand National Junior Classic (78-38) in addition to the SJGT Four-Ball event. She has 10 total Top 10 finishes this summer on the tour to go along with her five first place finishes making her a strong candidate for possible Player of the Year honors.
