Sixth-Grader Invited to Participate in Top Volleyball Programs

Sixth-grader Marissa J. was one of four setters recently invited to film the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) training session on “How to develop a setter to become a college recruit.” The video will be shown at the upcoming AVCA virtual convention. AVCA is an organization comprised of over 8,000 volleyball coaches from across the country.

Marissa also received an invitation from USA Volleyball High Performance Program to participate in their annual holiday program in Manhattan Beach, California. Due to COVID-19, the program will be held virtually in December. Over the summer, Marissa received an invitation to participate in the USA Volleyball High Performance Future Select elite program. She was one of two girls in her age group selected from the Southeast region for the summer program. Each year, USAV High Performance identifies high-potential athletes for advancement consideration, working to discover the Olympians of tomorrow.

Marissa is a setter with A5 Volleyball Club in Alpharetta and plays on the 12-1 Jing Team.
