The football team had another outstanding season finishing the 2021 regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. The season got off to an exciting start as the War Eagles defeated a pair of top ranked teams in Eagles Landing Christian Academy (17-14) and Marist (14-9). Woodward cruised through the Region 3-AAAAA schedule before facing No. 2 ranked Creekside for the region championship. Woodward held the lead throughout the finale and defeated the Seminoles 21-14 to capture the 2021 Region 3-AAAAA Championship.

The War Eagles advanced to the 2nd round of the AAAAA State playoffs defeating Veterans High School along the way before being eliminated by Blessed Trinity. On offense, the War Eagles were led by junior quarterback Jalen Woods, senior running back Damari Alston, and senior receivers CJ Burton and Maxwell Crow. The defense, once again, ranked as one of the tops in AAAAA and was led by seniors Christian Harrison and Deon King along with juniors AJ Hoffler, Spencer Snipe, River Hanson, and sophomore Andrew Hines. Senior kicker Lee Johnson led the special teams hitting 43 of 44 PATs and 10 of 12 FGs including a long of 47 yards. While the team will graduate 12 key seniors, Woodward Academy hopes to be right back in the hunt in 2022.
