The track and field squads competed in the AAAAA State Championships at Kinnett Stadium in Columbus, Ga. The girl's team captured Region 3-AAAAA Championships, while the boys finished as runners-up. Numerous athletes qualified for the state meet.

The girl's team turned in an outstanding performance, winning 2nd in AAAAA state championship with 56 points. Kenyah Conner captured the lone individual state title in the 800 Meters with a school-record time of 2:12.90. Also, scoring points for Woodward were:

  • Chelsea Williams, Dillyn Green, Madison Williams-Zackery, and Kenyah Conner: 2nd in the 4 x 400 in a school-record time of 3:52.24

  • Kenyah Conner: 2nd in the 400 (with a time of 56.09)

  • Peyton Funderburk: 3rd in the Triple Jump

  • Molly Devinney: 2nd in the Pole Vault

  • Dillyn Green: 5th in the 200, 7th in the 100m

  • Peyton Funderburk, Chelsea Williams, Sanyu Kidggue, and Dillyn Green: 4th in the 4 x 100

  • Peyton Funderburk, Savy Seward, Mikayla Virgin, and Chelsea Williams: 5th in the 4 x 200 

  • Chelsea Williams: 8th in the 100

The boys' team finished with several state competitors:

  • Michael Butler: 110h

  • Deke Cooper: High Jump

  • Erik Hanson: Pole Vault

  • Aakash Patel: 3200 Meter

  • Louie Bates: 3200 Meter

The 2022 season was a special one for the track and field teams. The girls won their sixth consecutive Region Championships. Congratulations to all of the athletes on the 2022 teams!
