Week of Understanding 2026

Woodward held its annual Week of Understanding January 27-30 with a range of programming focused on empathy-building and service throughout the Academy. This year’s WOU theme was Compassion in Action, with emphasis on Woodward’s partnerships with three organizations: the Jesse Draper Boys & Girls Club, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and Horizons Atlanta. For more, check out our recent blog post detailing those partnerships.

Key events this week included:

  • An International Photographer’s panel featured insights from Shingo Kanagawa, Tejasvir Rekhi ’12, and Domia Edwards ’16.
  • On Thursday Chaplain Chris led an interfaith panel titled “Exploring the Value of Selfless Service,” in which students heard diverse perspectives on service and compassion from different faith traditions.
  • On Friday students wrote letters and packed supportive materials for the Jesse Draper Boys & Girls Club.
  • Tiny House “Madhousers” completed a build in the Paget Gym student lounge.
  • On Friday Woodward seniors traveled to the Primary School to engage in mentoring activities and collaborate on service projects in a joint event with their younger schoolmates.
  • Also on Friday, a group of 15 Woodward juniors traveled from Main Campus to Woodward North to help pack donations with WN 4th-6th graders.
