Eighth-grader Audrey Anderson sets new WA girls cross country record in 5K race

On December 7, the Cross Country teams competed in the postseason Garmin RunningLane Championship meet in Huntsville, Alabama. Eighth-grader Audrey Anderson led the girls team, finishing in 18:56.50. Audrey's time is the fastest 5K run by a Woodward Academy girl on record! She beat the previous best time, set in1990, by 19 seconds. Her time also placed her as the top 8th grader in the 5K in Georgia this year, and number six on the all-time 8th grade 5K list in the state.

Sophomore Taylor Lonergan, eighth-graders Annie Mainwaring and Sunny Ciranni, and senior Adelaide Hanna made up the rest of the girls team. The girls placed in the top 15 teams in the Gold Division, competing against teams from all over the country.

In the boys race, freshman Levi Howard led the team, finishing in sixth place overall in the Bronze Division. Juniors Chris Alexander, Brett Schloessberg, and Avery Jacobs, and freshmen Austin Clemens and Price O'Keeffe made up the rest of the boys team.
