Ninth-grader Marissa Jones was selected on May 15, 2024, by VolleyballMag as a top 15 volleyball player from across the nation for the Class of 2027. Marissa was one of only four 2027 setters within the group to receive the prestigious recognition. VolleyballMag is the longest-running national awards platform that honors volleyball players in the country. The selections are established from recruiting ranking and player achievements.
Under Armour Next Volleyball invited Marissa to attend their invitational only high school camp for top players across the nation this spring. During the camp, Marissa was the only setter and freshman to be awarded the Most Valuable Player from Under Armour.
Marissa also was invited by USA Volleyball to participate in the National Team Development Program (NTDP) Spring Training that was held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Marissa worked with Olympic volleyball players and coaches, as well as collegiate coaches from across the nation. Marissa will be traveling to Anaheim, California, this summer to continue her USAV training.
Marissa and her club team competed at the Northeast Qualifier (NEQ) in April. Marissa led her team as the setter, where they placed first in the 15 Open Division and medaled gold. There were 350 teams that competed in the 15U Division. Marissa and her team are now triple qualified on the 15U Open Division for USAV Nationals. They will compete at USAV Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada, in July.
Marissa is a setter with A5 Mizuno Volleyball Club in Alpharetta, Georgia, and Woodward Academy's varsity volleyball team.
