Sophomore Madeline Smith was accepted to the Broadway Musical Theatre Intensive at Open Jar Studios in New York City.

Sophomore Madeline Smith was accepted to the Broadway Musical Theatre Intensive at Open Jar Studios in New York City. Only 80 students from across the country were selected for the program, and Madeline is one of just two students from Georgia to attend.

During the weeklong intensive, students receive training in acting, dance, and vocal performance from working Broadway professionals. Madeline participated in classes led by Broadway performer Afra Hines and Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin, attended a post-show talkback with cast members, and prepared for a final showcase for industry professionals.

As an added highlight, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the creative team for his new musical Warriors were rehearsing in the same building, giving participants a unique opportunity to observe Broadway professionals in action.
