Sophomore Lauren Johnson has been selected to serve on the Douglas County Youth Commission Class of 2027, a student leadership program that allows high school students to engage with local government and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

The Douglas County Youth Commission brings together student leaders to learn about government operations, law, community planning, economic development and other issues affecting young people. Members also have opportunities to work with county leaders, provide input on matters affecting youth and develop recommendations for local decision-makers.

Selection to the commission is competitive, with students applying for consideration based on their community involvement and level of engagement. Lauren will join other high school students from across Douglas County for the 2026–27 school year, meeting regularly throughout the year and participating in educational and civic engagement opportunities.
