Three students from Woodward North won 1st place in the Metro Atlanta State Qualifier Chess tournament on March 4. Nathan J., pre-K, Ethan Z., kindergarten, and Alan L., 1st grade, played a four round, unrated, individually paired Swiss System tournament with a time control of 25 minutes per player with a five second time delay. The students competed against more than 400 players from elementary and middle schools throughout the state of Georgia, and scored six points in the tourney to earn them the Fulton County Champion title.
