The 2021-2022 wrestling season saw tremendous success, despite working through COVID restrictions. The team finished in the top four for both the traditional and state tournament. In the state dual tournament, Woodward finished in 2nd place. Three seniors were crowned individual state champions at the end of the season, including Colby McBride and Gunner Filipowicz–marking each of their 2nd state titles–along with Matthew Singleton who became the fourth Woodward wrestler to win four individual state titles. Singleton also is the 47th wrestler in the state of Georgia to accomplish this feat.

This season marked coach Jeff Ragan’s personal best with eight state placers, five state finalists, and three state champions. The team will graduate a very talented senior class this year, but looks forward to a crop of young, talented wrestlers who are already training hard to prepare for next year’s season when the team enters 6A competition.
