Girls Cross Country

The girls cross country team welcomed strong, new members this year, continuing their goal from last season of racing together as a team. Junior Shristi Roy ran the fastest time of the season in 20:48 at Bob Blastow on August 27. Sophomore Eve Mallis ran the second-fastest time in 20:54 at the Asics Invitational on October 1. Mallis also was ranked in the top 25 sophomore runners in 6A. Senior Casey Cullen, juniors Julia Bender and Brooke Myrick, sophomores Adelaide Hanna and Anisa Suffren-Crumby, and freshmen Izzy Paty and Svara Dalal made up the team’s top runners.

At the Region Meet, the girls were hit hard by flu season, but they still finished as the Region 3-6A Champions with a near perfect score. Cullen finished as the Region Champion with a time of 21:49, only one second off her personal best, while Hanna finished third in 23:04. The girls team also raced the Jekyll Island Invitational and the Randolph Invitational in Huntsville, growing closer together on the shore and on the course. The team posted their best average of 22:08 at the Atlanta Classic on October 8. At the State Meet, Roy finished first for the team in 23:14 with Cullen finishing second for the team, completing her four years of cross country with her fastest state time of 23:27. Making up the rest of the state team were Mallis, Hanna, Dalal, and Myrick, finishing 18th overall.
