Eighth-Grader Named Floor Champion in Regional Gymnastics Meet

Eighth-grader Sadie Westlund placed 5th in her age group at the USA Gymnastics XCEL GOLD GA State Championships in April. Her scores and place qualified her to compete in the XCEL  GOLD Regional Championships in the Sr. G division on Saturday, May 1, 2021. 

Gymnasts from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and North Carolina competed in the championship. Sadie scored 9.375 on beam, finished in 6th place on Vault with a score of 9.3, and finished in 2nd place on bars with a 9.525. With a score of 9.700, she also earned the title of Regional Floor Champion. Sadie also won 3rd place in the All Around competition with a total score of 37.90.
