Girl Scout Troop 12710 received the 2018 Greater Atlanta Council Bronze Young Women of Distinction Award at a celebration at the end of February for their fifth-grade Bronze Award Project—Troop 12710 Helps Animals. They were one of just two troops selected from the greater Atlanta area.
Last fall, the troop participated in the Atlanta Humane Society Walk for Animals. In the winter, they donated a portion of their cookie sales toward buying supplies to support the humane society, followed by a Lower School drive for recycled supplies carried out in the spring.
After researching ways to help animals both globally and regionally, the troop first partnered with the Atlanta Humane Society as third-grade Brownies. They have expanded their involvement and partnership since then, identifying more ways to help animals and show their peers how to get involved. Congratulations to the following students (now sixth-graders): Nadia A., Cecilia A., Lainey A., Pelly-Marie A., Logan B., Julia B., Chloe B., Emma L., Ariana M., and Maddie P.
