Girl Scout Troop Volunteers at Botanical Garden

  • community

Woodward Academy Girl Scout Troop 12710 used their recent day off from school to volunteer at the Atlanta Botanical Garden for their Breathe Journey Take Action Project.

The Girl Scouts helped the horticulture department staff prepare the Garden for fall planting and The Garden of Eden Ball, the largest annual fundraising event in support of the Atlanta Botanical Garden. The girls spent the morning mulching flowerbeds throughout the garden, including the front entrance and the rose garden, and learned about the plants and exhibits.

The Girl Scouts paid for the mulch and pine straw required for the project by donating $450 from troop funds earned through their Girl Scout cookie sales in the spring.
