Junior Advocates for Dyslexia Awareness at Capitol

  • community

Junior Jenna Benedict participated in Dyslexia Day at the Capitol on February 12 to advocate her support for SB48. While there, Jenna met with her senator Donzella James, P.K. Martin who sponsored the bill, and lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan. Jenna also was invited to return to speak before the committee before voting on the bill.

Dyslexia Day at the Capitol was sponsored by Decoding Dyslexia GA—a network of parent-led grassroots movements across the country concerned with the limited access to educational interventions for dyslexia within the public education system. Decoding Dyslexia aims to raise dyslexia awareness, empower families to support their children and inform policy-makers on best practices to identify, remediate, and support students with dyslexia.
