Junior Selected for GSPA Student Advisory Board
Junior Jordan Tovin has been appointed to the 2021 Student Advisory Board of the Georgia Scholastic Press Association. Jordan is the Photo Editor of the Phoenix yearbook.
Jordan is one of five members for the 2020-21 Student Advisory Board. These high school juniors and seniors will assist in the functions of GSPA, attend virtual board meetings, and generally serve as ambassadors to promote the scholastic press.
"When quarantine struck in the late spring last year, I became super invested in learning about different styles of photography and journalism," Jordan said. "As a member of the Georgia Scholastic Press Association’s Student Board, I hope to gain more knowledge and exposure to the world of journalism. In my time on the GSPA Student Board, I plan to contribute valuable ideas about promoting journalism throughout Georgia while taking safety into account as we continue to fight the pandemic. I also intend to bring a more artistic perspective and mindset to the GSPA’s conferences, events, advertising, and competitions."
The students selected for the the board demonstrate a deep commitment to their schools’ media programs and a desire to better the scholastic journalism experience for high school students across the state. Terms will last the academic year through May 2021.
