Seventh-Grader Wins Gold Key in Art Competition
Seventh-grader Nicholas Mao recently won a Gold Key in the Georgia Scholastic Art and Writing competition in the Middle School Art Category for his sketch of an onion and potato. Nicholas' artwork will be forwarded on to New York City for the National Scholastic Art Competition.
Each year students in grades 7 through 12 submit writing and artwork to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition for opportunities to earn scholarships and to have their works published or exhibited. The awards competition is presented by The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, which partners with more than 100 regional affiliates in what has grown to become the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition initiative for creative teens and the largest scholarship source for young artists and writers.
