Students Receive Superior Rating in Piano Festival
Five Woodward students participated in the South Metro Atlanta Music Teachers Association's (SMAMTA) Sonata/Sonatina Piano Festival held on February 6. The festival is a noncompetitive, evaluative event for music students of all levels, and provides participants the opportunity to be evaluated by an objective adjudicator and receive valuable advice and suggestions for improving and developing musical skills and knowledge. The categories of musicianship, technique, memorization, and poise are evaluated.
Each Woodward participant received a Superior rating—the top rating given—for their piano performances of one movement of a Sonata or Sonatina, from memory.
Congratulations to the following students:
Nia Agbogu - 7th grade
Kyla Granville - 8th grade
Laila Leroy - 11th grade
Mary Olson - 8th grade
