Eighth-grade viola player Kevin Cromer was recently accepted into the Emory Junior Chamber Orchestra. The 50-piece string orchestra, formerly known as the Atlanta Junior Chamber Orchestra and under the leadership of director Georgia Ekonomou, includes top sixth through ninth grade musicians in the Atlanta area. Orchestra members are chosen based on a rigorous selection process. Now in its eighth season, the orchestra has received recognition for its musical excellence. Kevin also is a member of the Georgia State Orchestra.
Kevin also was accepted into the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) this summer. Duke TIP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented youth by working with students, their families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help advanced students reach their highest potential.
