Meet our Parent Programming Chair
Wendy Harben is the Parent Programming Chair. She and her husband Tim have a daughter in grade 8. As Parent Programming Chair she plans meaningful opportunities for learning, dialog, and social interactions relevant to the experience of Woodward Academy parents. One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that it has provided us the opportunity to expand our reach using virtual offerings.
They chose Woodward because they were looking for a school that would nurture their daughter as well as provide a well-rounded education that allowed her to pursue her passions. They believe one of Woodward's greatest strengths is its ability to customize the educational experience to the individual interests and strengths of its students.
Their favorite Woodward memory is when their daughter was part of the Odyssey of the Mind Balsa Team. Their whole family was involved including Tim who coached. That year the team went to World Finals in Iowa. It was amazing to be part of a competition with students from all over the world. One of the most valuable aspects for our daughter was that she learned both creative problem solving and practical construction skills.
They have enjoyed the slower pace and spending more time together as a family. They have also had fun trying to recreate their favorite restaurant dishes at home. Wendy loves to cook and read in her free time. Once things return to normal they are looking forward to exploring their new Midtown neighborhood.
