WAPC Thanks Karen Corbin for her 28 Years of Service to Woodward Academy!
Karen Corbin and her husband Mike have been Woodward parents for an astounding 28 years. The Corbin’s four children, Rachel (Class of 2007), Tommy (Class of 2009), Luke (Class of 2016), and Aaron (Class of 2021) each attended WA from kindergarten through graduation. Since the day Karen’s oldest child entered kindergarten, Karen has devoted countless hours supporting the Academy and the WAPC. From volunteering with Super Goober Day to being an active room parent, from helping out in the concession stands to being a long-time WAPC Board member, Karen has just about done it all.
After wearing numerous volunteer hats for fourteen years, Karen agreed to take on the role of managing the concession stands for WA athletic events in 2008. During those 13 years, she oversaw the football concession stands, trained and recruited parent and student volunteers, ordered food and drinks, made countless trips to Costco and Sams, and much more. Karen’s husband Mike could also be found at home football games where he has been in charge of grilling. We thank him for all he has done for the Academy as well!
Karen has thoroughly enjoyed her years of volunteer work and has especially loved the friends she made through volunteering. Soon, the Corbins will not have a child attending WA for the first time in 28 years, but Karen and the entire Corbin family will still be members of the WA family in no small part because of the relationships they have built while volunteering!
Karen’s commitment and contributions are unparalleled and the WAPC commends her for her dedication and for her many years of service!
Congratulations Karen, Mike, and Aaron!
