Woodward Academy welcomed the eighth president in its 125-year history when Dr. Chris Freer took the helm of leadership on July 1, 2025. Although his presidency began in 2025, he has been a beloved fixture at the Academy for more than 30 years, serving the Academy as a teacher, coach, principal, and member of the senior leadership team. President Freer and his wife, Amanda Lesesne Freer, have three sons, Henry ’19, Thomas ’22, and Charlie ’27. Since 2012, the Freer family has lived in The Oaks, the former home of Woodward founders John Charles and Lucile Woodward.
